The ‘Meeraboo-2007 ST-1’ side table

Meeraboo-2007 ST-1

The ‘Meeraboo-2007 ST-1’ side table, with its built in light source and storage compartment,
explores the notion of integrated systems where its components having contradicting qualities.
There is a dichotomy between the curvilinear lower portion of the table (Q-Tips),
and the hard edge linear shape of the tabletop.
A vertical vent stack protruding through the tabletop plane suggests reconfiguration and adaptation.

Meeraboo-2007 ST-1

The glowing orb underneath the table projects light through a hole in the table onto your
ceiling to provide a small amount of light.
The orb itself is the perfect place to drop pocket-junk like your keys, watch, wallet, iPhone, etc etc.

Cappuccino Coast

The day the Pacific was whipped up into an ocean of froth

the shoreline north of Sydney were transformed into the Cappuccino Coast

The shoreline north of Sydney were transformed into the Cappuccino Coast.
Foam swallowed an entire beach and half the nearby buildings, including the local lifeguards' centre,
in a freak display of nature at Yamba in New South Wales.
It stretched for 30 miles out into the Pacific in a phenomenon not seen at the beach for more than three decades.

the shoreline north of Sydney were transformed into the Cappuccino Coast

Scientists explain that the foam is created by impurities in the ocean, such as salts, chemicals, dead plants, decomposed fish and excretions from seaweed.

the shoreline north of Sydney were transformed into the Cappuccino Coast

All are churned up together by powerful currents which cause the water to form bubbles.
These bubbles stick to each other as they are carried below the surface by the current towards the shore.

As a wave starts to form on the surface, the motion of the water causes the bubbles to swirl upwards
and, massed together, they become foam. The foam "surfs" towards shore until the wave "crashes",
tossing the foam into the air.

Dancing Towers

Zaha Hadid’s design for the Dancing Towers confirms the role of Business Bay Development at the very forefront of Dubai’s rapidly changing future. The three towers rise above the creek and project themselves as an icon for the surrounding developments and for the gulf region.

The project was launched last year and when complete
will consist of three interlinking towers containing offices, apartments and a hotel.

The tower’s striking design creates a new presence that punctures
the
skyline with a powerful recognizable silhouette. The fluid character
of the towers is generated through an intrinsically dynamic composition of volumes.

PhD Student Delivers Thesis in Her Underwear; Combines Video Games & Sex

Master's Student Demonstrates Thesis Project in Her Underwear

Jennifer Chowdhury demonstrates her Ph.D. thesis project at New York University, an interactive game called Intimate Controllers. A set of sensors embedded in underwear direct the action on a video game. Players touch each other to control the game. Photo Jennifer Chowdhury
Using Intimate Controllers, she is able to illustrate how her and a partner can direct the action of a video game without the use of hand controllers. To present her research, Chowdhury had to show pictures of herself in underwear, although she wore a shirt underneath and did wear clothing in her presentation…

There is a growing research field that integrates sex and technology to find innovative ways to improve human health and well-being. Jennifer Chowdhury, a masters student at NYU created a set of sensors embedded in underwear called Intimate Controllers.

For her demo, Chowdhury made a video of herself and a partner playing Pong. He stands behind her with his hands near her shoulders, and she reaches back toward his hips. When he touches her left breast, the paddle moves to the left. The sensor in the right bra cup moves the Pong paddle to the right. "I thought long and hard about how to present Intimate Controllers so it wouldn't be viewed as 'girls gone wild' + technology," she said in an e-mail. "It's nerve-racking enough to give your thesis talk. But imagine doing it and knowing your teachers and peers are about to see you in your underwear on screen." Lighthearted and playful, the invention nevertheless has a serious side. With it, Jennifer acknowledges the seductive nature of video games and the deleterious effect a passion for games can have on relationships. Yet "stop gaming" is hardly a solution. (wired)

pstttt....keep on & off

YouTube is one of the best free websiteS but some countries ban it, where and why? (again)
Here’s an overview of what’s actually happening

Iran and UAE - The UAE, as well as Iran, are blocking YouTube due to their standard censorship of “offensive material”.

Morocco - Morocco has had YouTube banned because of videos that mock the Moroccan king as well as some pro-Western Sahara clips - until today. For the first time in two weeks, Moroccans can access YouTube again.

Thailand - An off situation is found in Thailand, which blocks/bans/sues YouTube same reason with Morocco since April until now.

Turkey - Finally, a court in Istanbul has issued a short-lived order to block YouTube because of videos offending Ataturk, the founding father of the Turkish Republic.

Iraq - Iraq has quite a weird situation: in Internet cafes you can access YouTube, but the US military forces residing there, due to an order from Pentagon, can’t. The ban, which blocks access not only to YouTube but also several other social networking sites, like MySpace, is still enforced, despite severe protests from YouTube.

Brazil - Brazil, like Turkey, has had a nationwide YouTube ban due to a court order. The offending clip this time was Daniela Cicarelli’s sex stunt on the beach (how you can expect to have sex on the beach and not have it end up on YouTube is beyond us), and this Brazilian model insisted that the clip should either be fully removed (and users stopped from reposting it) or that YouTube should be banned altogether. YouTube was banned for a while, but the ban was removed relatively quickly.

Victoria, Australia (in schools) - Australia is also included here (actually, only one of its states, Victoria) because YouTube was banned in schools there. It’s not really a full ban, but it’s not negligible either, considering some 1600 schools were affected.

China and India - Finally, China and India currently have no active ban on YouTube, but both states have on occasions threatened to block the video sharing website; India because of a video clip mocking Gandhi, and China because of their general policy of banning, well, all kinds of stuff.

*Bear in mind that it’s hard to track actual availability of YouTube in some countries - not all ISPs comply with bans, and we count Youtube as “banned” where the largest ISP has initiated a block.

What’s the Most Bizarre Object ..

What’s the Most Bizarre Object You’ve Ever Found in a Hotel Room?

New survey reveals outrageous hotel room finds, favored hotel mates and risqué romps

Kajak.com polled 1,141 travelers on their travel tales, and the respondents shared naughty hotel confessions that would make the bellhop blush.
Sixty-six percent of respondents say they have booked a hotel room purely for a romantic rendezvous and more than 1 in 4 say that being in a hotel room makes them feel randy.

At what stage in a relationship do most people find it “OK” to check-in together for an intimate weekend? Forty-five percent of respondents said after just three months, while a more cautious 27% would wait six months before sneaking away with a significant other.

Meanwhile, only 9% admitted to having ever booked a hotel room by the hour. Clearly they didn’t survey a wide range of gays, lesbians or same-sex couples.

Elsewhere the survey found that globetrotting celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were the most desired hotel roommates for nearly 58% of respondents, with Super Bowl/Supermodel couple Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen coming in a distant second with less than 19%.

When asked for the strangest thing found in a hotel room, the most frequent responses included other people (in various states of undress), bugs, toenail clippings, used prophylactics, pot, porn and poop. Believe it or not, more than one respondent found a prosthetic leg, severed finger and false teeth. Other unique finds reported in the survey included a vibrating intimacy aid, a broken leather whip, a beer-filled tub, a joint hidden in a bible and a raccoon.

Ah good times.

Finally, it appears that U.S. travelers are not quite as naughty when it comes to helping themselves to souvenirs before checking out. While 70% admitted to taking toiletries, very few took anything else from a hotel room and only 4% admitted to swiping those nice and fluffy hotel towels.
